​​Highland Mutual Insurance Company began operation in 1895 and insures farms and homes.  Highland Mutual is authorized to serve members statewide, but primarily serves the Central Missouri area with insurance for fire, wind and liability risks.   Located at 104 East Third Street in California, Missouri, the Secretary/Manager is Janet Wolfrum, the Treasurer is Patricia Inglish, Office Support is Bev Kleffner.  Agents are James Cox, Michael Inglish, Jay Bestgen, and William Inglish.
